DEMOCRACY

DICTATORSHIP

DYNASTY

(April 29, 1901 - January 7, 1989)

Hirohito was the 123rd emperor of Japan and was the

longest ruler in Japanese history. Hirohito would become

emperor of Japan on December 23, 1926, following the

death of his father, Emperor Taishō. During Hirohito's time

as emperor, the empire of Japan would conquer territories

in southeast Asia before the Second World War. When

America realized the actions that the Japanese empire was

doing, they cut off their oil production. This resulted in

Japan retaliating against America in the infamous Pearl

Harbor attack on December 7, 1941. The empire of Japan

kept going with the war effort in World War II until they

made a surrender to the U.S. from the atomic bomb of

Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
