Vladimir Putin is a politician who became president

and prime minister of Russia. Before Putin's rise to

power in the early 21st century, he was formerly a

KGB officer during the Cold War and after the

dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Putin would

soon be involved in politics as he was prime minister

from then-president Boris Yeltsin in 1999. By March of

2000, Vladimir Putin would become president of Russia

for his first and second term in 2004. By 2012, Putin

would have his third and fourth term as president of

Russia and won't be out until 2036.
