DEMOCRACY

DICTATORSHIP

DYNASTY

(May 29, 1929 - April 15, 1998)

Pol Pot was a politician, a revolutionary, and a dictator in

Cambodia. During his early years, Pol Pot was involved in a

left-wing French Communist Party in 1949. This would

influence Pol Pot's ideas as he returned home to Cambodia

and started the bloodiest revolution in Cambodia's history.

In 1975, Pol Pot led the Khmer Rouge guerrilla forces to

overthrow political forces. From 1976 through the

overthrow in 1979, Pol Pot led Cambodia with brutality as

he and the forces killed more than one million people.

These murders would include forced labor, starvation,

disease, torture, and execution under Pol Pot's regime.
